The Ultimate Trap

Starring
Captain America (deleted member)

Captain America

I am Captain America, dressed in my iconic red, white, and blue costume. I have my vibranium shield strapped to my left arm, and my standard-issue M1911A1 pistol holstered on my right hip. I sneak through the jungle, moving from shadow to shadow, listening and watching for any sign of movement. My super soldier senses warn me that there are hostiles near. I peer through a thicket of trees and notice two armed terrorists in the clearing. I ready my pistol. Time to spring the trap...

Terrorists

The jungle is hot and steamy, and the night is dark. The two armed terrorists that Captain America has spotted are protecting the entrance to the terrorist's main base. Both terrorists are wearing camouflage battle gear, and are extremely muscular men. They have both have a Glock 17 holstered on their tactical belts.

Neither terrorist notices Captain America as he peers at them through a thicket of trees.

Captain America

I aim my M1911A1 pistol, taking a deep breath to steady myself. My super soldier reflexes and vision have already calculated all the relevant ballistics variables, and now all I need to do is pull the trigger. I take a deep breath, squeeze the trigger, and fire a single shot at the first terrorist.

Terrorists

The first terrorist looks astonished as the shot from Captain America's M1911A1 pistol rips through his muscular chest. Blood begins to flow out of his mouth as he gasps in pain, then he falls backwards, dead.

The second terrorist gapes in astonishment at his dead comrade, then draws his Glock 17, firing desperately towards Captain America while he dives for cover behind a tree. The sounds of gunshots have alerted other terrorists! Voices are shouting in alarm.

Captain America

I roll out of the way as a hail of bullets from the terrorist's glock 17 hits the ground in front of me. More enemies are nearby, which means I am outnumbered and must think smart if I am to survive. Without hesitating, I rise to my feet and take cover behind a thick tree, then throw my shield at the second terrorist, aiming for his head.

Terrorists

The second terrorist never sees Captain America's skillfully thrown shield! The shield hits the second terrorist in the head, and he collapses unconscious, pain shooting through his head, his muscular body twitching. Just then, from the entrance to the terrorist base further up the path, four more terrorists emerged! They immediately take cover. Three of them are armed with a Glock 17 gun, but the fourth is armed with a high-caliber sniper rifle, a real threat even to Captain America's super tough and durable body.

Captain America

I keep a close eye on the sniper's location as the rest of the terrorist's prepare for combat. I notice that the three terrorists with Glocks have all gotten into a line formation, likely for the purpose of attempting to flank and overwhelm. It's now that I need to be a true superhero, and show my enemy that I'm willing to put my skin on the line for this mission. I throw my shield at the sniper's head, then leap into the air and land behind the 3 terrorists with Glocks, launching a flying kick towards the center terrorist.

Terrorists

The terrorists gape in astonishment as Captain America moves with super human speed, precision and strength. The sniper fires his high caliber sniper rifle just as Captain America throws his shield at the sniper's head. The bullet hits Captain America's shield mid-air, but bounces off harmlessly, unable to affect the vibranium material that comprises the shield.

The shield slams into the sniper's head, and he slumps unconscious, dropping his rifle, bleeding from his ears. Captain America's shield bounces off the sniper's head, and buries itself in the dirt next to one of the terrorists.

Captain America's super human flying leap catches the three terrorists armed with a Glock 17 pistol by surprise.

The center terrorist has no time to react as Captain America's flying kick sends him sailing across the clearing, where he slams back first into a tree, and collapses knocked out.

The terrorist on the right tries to fire his Glock at Captain America.

The terrorist on the left reaches down and picks up Captain America's shield, holding it front of him!

Captain America

The left terrorist is quick to react to this situation, and now has my shield and the upper hand. I don't have my signature weapon, so I decide to go hand to hand with these terrorists. My super soldier enhanced reflexes and senses give me an edge in this situation as well, as I am more used to close combat fighting than these mere mortals.

I grab the terrorist on the left by the wrist, twisting it and pushing it upwards, in order to break the terrorist's grasp on my shield. I then bring my knee into the terrorist's stomach.

Terrorists

The terrorist on the left tries to lift the shield in his left hand to protect himself from Captain America, but Captain America's super serum fueled strength and speed are too much for him! Captain America's hand seizes the terrorist's left wrist. The terrorist on the left screams in pain, dropping Captain America's shield.

Captain America's knee strikes the left terrorist's stomach with super human strength, overwhelming the left terrorist's flexed abdominal muscles, sending a shockwave through the left terrorist's body that causes severe internal injuries. The left most terrorist coughs up a huge amount of blood before releasing his grip on his Glock 17 and falling unconscious.

But while Captain America is busy taking out the left terrorist, the terrorist on the right has a clear shot at Captain America! He aims his Glock 17 at Captain America's back, and pulls the trigger!

Captain America

Even with my enhanced senses and reflexes, I have been caught off guard, and the terrorist manages to hit me in the back with a bullet. I stagger forward a few steps, and wince in pain. That's going to be a nasty bruise by tomorrow, but at least the terrorists don't seem to know that it will take more than a single shot of 9mm ammunition to kill me.

I turn around and stare into the eyes of the right terrorist who has just shot me. I give him a single nod, and charge straight for him.

Terrorists

The terrorist gapes in astonishment as his bullet slams into Captain America's back, but doesn't injure him. The bullet doesn't even penetrate Captain America's muscular back, his muscles being too dense and durable, thanks to the super soldier serum, to be vulnerable to 9mm ammunition.

Captain America charges at the terrorist, who tries to react, but he can't match Captain America's super soldier speed and reflexes. He tries to fire at Captain America again!

Captain America

I raise my right arm to block the shots from the terrorist's glock 17, and quickly close the distance between me and the terrorist. I grab the terrorist by the throat and lift him off his feet, pinning him to a tree while he struggles to breath. I lean down, breathing heavily, my heart rate and body temperature rising from the effort.

"Where is the leader of this group?" I ask sternly, looking into the eyes of the terrorist. "And where is the hostage you are keeping?"

Terrorists

The terrorist can't believe the speed and reflexes of Captain America! Captain America blocks his shot with his right arm, the bullets unable to harm Captain America's thickly muscled arm.

Before the terrorist can react, he's lifted by his throat, off his feet, an easy feat for Captain America's super soldier strength. The terrorist is pinned against the tree, his boots are kicking, and his hands are clutching Captain America's right wrist as Captain America's right hand crushes his throat. The terrorist is sweating profusely, and his heart is beating fast in terror.

The terrorist knows he is no match for the mighty super soldier, the legendary Captain America. He replies to Captain America's question, gasping, "The leader ... is at the bottom level .. of our base, the hostages ... are there ... as well."

Captain America's shield is still laying on the ground, where the terrorist dropped it after being knocked unconscious by Captain America.

Captain America

"Good. You'd better be telling the truth."

I throw the conscious terrorist to the ground, then retrieve my shield and activate my comm link.

"Falcon, do you copy? We have a situation in the South American jungle."

"Copy that, Captain! What's going on?"

"I've encountered a group of terrorists planning a large-scale attack on the U.S. I've taken out these men, but my intel has led me to believe that the leader of these terrorists is at the bottom level of their base."

Terrorists

The terrorist drops to the ground, massaging his throat, breathing hard.

Falcon

Falcon responds over the comm link, "Copy that Captain! Do you need backup? Did you find the hostages? I can be there in an hour if you need help taking out the leader of the terrorists."

[IMAGE:https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1093854245754769448/1112613309682819122/falcon_1.png]

Captain America

"There's no need for backup. I can take out the leader of the terrorists on my own."

After a moment of silent hesitation, I continue.

"But yes, the hostages that the terrorists were planning on using for leverage are here."

I pause for a few moments before continuing.

"I'm sure that their leader has a plan, and may try to escape or hurt the hostages. I'm going to track the leader and take him down, but I need you to extract the hostages. Can you do that, Falcon?"

Falcon

Falcon responds over the comm link, "Roger that Captain. I'll contact Hawkeye and Bucky Barnes, together the three of us will extract the hostages once you let me know where the hostages are being kept prisoner. While the three of us extract the hostages, you can deal with the leader. How does that sound Captain?"

Terrorists

Nearby, the terrorist keeps massaging his throat, looking terrified. He glances over at Captain America's shield laying on the ground. The terrorist is trying to summon the courage to make his escape, contemplating whether or not he should try and steal Captain America's shield. The terrorist knows how valuable it would be if he could steal it.

Captain America

"Your plan sounds perfect, Falcon. I'm heading into the base now. I'll keep you updated."

A grim, resolute expression passes over my face. I know that I have to face this terrorist leader without any backup. But I am more than ready. Captain America always wins in the end.

"Don't worry, terrorist," I say in a cool but intimidating voice, "I won't kill you. You will be sent to a super maximum security prison that no one has ever escaped from. And you will be spending a very long time there."

Terrorists

The terrorist cowers as Captain America threatens him. But then, a sudden desperation seems to come over him. Despite being a terrorist, he is a brave, courageous man. Even though he knows how foolhardy it is, he leaps to his feet, running towards Captain America's discarded shield, intending to try and grab it. At the same time, he reaches for the radio strapped to his tactical belt, trying to warn his leader about Captain America's plan.

Captain America

I react instantly. I have super speed and reflexes, and I grab the terrorist by the arm as he runs past me. I squeeze just hard enough to knock the radio out of his hand.

"Don't make me regret my mercy." I glare at the terrorist, who is now facing me, shaking in fear. "I won't hesitate to change my mind though."

I throw the terrorist down against the ground and continue towards the base through the clearing. I pause to pick up my shield, then continue forward at a run.

Terrorists

The terrorist realizes that resisting Captain America is hopeless. His radio is knocked out of his hand and he is slammed hard to the ground. The terrorist watches in awe as the legendary Captain America retrieves his shield and begins running towards the main entrance to the terrorist base.

I hear voices inside the base as I near the main entrance, and I pause for a moment. I have to be ready for the chance that the terrorists might try to ambush me from inside the base. So before I go in, I press the communication device on my belt, and speak into the mic.

"Falcon, Bucky, Hawkeye," I say, "The base is more fortified than I expected, there are several terrorists in the base and there may be traps. Keep your distance, and be ready for any situation."

Falcon

Falcon responds on the comms channel, "Copy that Captain. Myself, Bucky, and Hawkeye will hang back until you tell us otherwise. We are in a helicopter nearby."

Terrorists

There are two guard towers flanking the heavy steel doors of the main entrance to the terrorist base. The guard towers are equipped with sophisticated detection devices which include thermal imaging systems. Even though Captain America is concealed, the thermal imaging systems in the guard towers can detect the American super soldier's body heat. Each guard tower has one guard. Both guards are armed with a high caliber sniper rifle and grenades. The guards have detected Captain America!

The guard in the left tower selects a flash bang grenade, pulls the pin and tosses it towards the location where Captain America is hiding! He hopes that the flash bang will stun Captain America.

The guard in the right tower takes careful aim, and waits until the flash bang grenade goes off, then fires a high caliber sniper round towards Captain America's super soldier body! Captain America's dense super soldier muscle cannot be harmed by 9mm ammunition such as a Glock 17 uses, but a high caliber sniper round is strong enough to hurt Captain America, if not kill him.

Captain America

The flashbang goes off before I can react, and I am temporarily stunned for half a second. Thankfully the sniper shot misses me, but that guard had a good shot. I can get inside quickly though before he can reload his rifle. I take a deep breath, and charge towards the heavy steel doors of the main entrance. Just before I reach the door, I jump up and forward, raising my shield as I do so. I bring the shield down over my head, striking the door with it, and smash through the doors!

Terrorists

The heavy steel doors are no match for Captain America's super strength and his vibranium shield! Captain America blasts the doors open, they are torn off their hinges, and collapse to the ground.

Inside the entrance, there is a long hallway. At the end of the hallway there are two signs, one says "Stairs" and the other says "Elevator"

There is one guard standing at the end of the hallway, he looks startled, but reaches for his Glock 17.

Falcon

Suddenly, Falcon speaks to Captain America over their comms, "Captain, I could hear gunshots and a grenade over the open channel, are you okay?"

Captain America

"I'm fine, Falcon," I answer. "I can handle this one guy. Just be on alert in case anything more dangerous shows up inside the base."

I turn to the guard and point my shield at him. "You're making a huge mistake," I say to him threateningly. "Stand down, or you'll end up like those terrorists outside."
"You stand no chance against me."

Terrorists

The terrorist guard is clearly terrified. He fires one shot at Captain America, then darts, heading for the stairs. He is trying to escape!

Just then, sirens begin to go off all over the base, and red lights flash. The guards outside in the two guard towers raised the alarm! The entire base is now alerted to Captain America's presence.

Captain America

"Damn," I mutter as the guard runs off. "That was stupid. I guess now they know I'm here."

I turn and make my way into the main entrance hallway, taking out my comm link to contact Falcon again. "The base is on alert now," I warn him, "They might try to evacuate any hostages they have. Keep an eye on things outside the base, they could try to move the hostages out of here. Keep any vehicles you see on your radar under close surveillance."

Falcon

Falcon responds over the Comm link, "Roger that Captain. We are moving forward in our SHIELD helicopter to cover any escape routes and monitor any vehicles. We'll let you know when we are in position. And Captain, be careful, okay?"

Captain America

"I'll be careful," I answer him. "There are no guarantees in battle, but I will do my best to complete this mission and bring the terrorists to justice. I will remain in constant contact with you via my comm link."

I put the comm link away, and start to move deeper into the base. I am ready to face any danger that may be waiting for me here. The mission is clear... find the leader of the terrorists, secure the hostages, and stop their plans of attack on the United States.

Terrorists

Captain America sees a ladder set into the wall. The ladder leads down into a deep hole. There is a sign next to the ladder that says "MAINTENANCE SHAFT TO SUB BASEMENT" Captain America's enhanced hearing can hear voices coming from the hole as though they were several levels below, men shouting, and one man with a deep voice shouting orders to all the rest. His voice is deep, and carries a note of command and the expectation of instant obedience.

Captain America

"He sounds like their leader," I think to myself, "That must be where this terrorist base's command center is located. I have to go down there and take out the leader."

I carefully descend the ladder and enter the maintenance shaft. I check the ammo in my pistol and make sure its fully loaded, then move carefully down the maintenance shaft towards the source of the voices. I move slowly and quietly, but keep my eyes and ears open for any danger.

I reach the main floor, and peer down a hallway to see where the voices are coming from.

Terrorists

When Captain America peers down the hallway, he sees a huge control room. The control room is lined with sophisticated computer workstations manned by terrorist operators. In the middle of the room stands a tall, muscular man wearing black tactical gear. He is stunningly handsome, and his arms and chest are thickly muscled. His arms are veiny and striated, like the arms of an elite bodybuilder. His chest and biceps are so muscular that the shape of his muscles is visible beneath his military tactical gear. There are about a dozen armed terrorist guards on station at various points around the control room.

Off to one side of the control room, there is a cage. Inside the cage are a number of people. One of the caged men is a high-ranking American military general, General Anderson, that Captain America will recognize.

Captain America

"I've found him," I speak into my comm link. "He's in the control room, with the hostages."

I sneak further into the control room, making sure to always stay behind cover. The terrorists are occupied with their computers, and are still unaware of my presence. I reach a point in the room from which I can see all the guards, and I take aim at my target - the muscular, handsome, and imposing terrorist leader.

"Okay," I mutter under my breath. "Time to finish this."

Terrorists

While Captain America sneaks into the control room, one of the men operating a computer speaks up in alarm, "Captain Steel, our radar systems detect a helicopter approaching the compound. The helicopter is attempting to jam our radar with advanced equipment. They don't realize that our equipment is capable of detecting their approach. The only organization that has equipment as advanced as ours is SHIELD. They must be working with Captain America!"

Captain Steel, the leader of the terrorists, barks out a harsh order, "Jam all SHIELD communication frequencies, and then lock onto the helicopter with our battle laser. It could counter any missile or anti aircraft weapon we could use, but it will not have a counter measure for our battle laser."

The man operating the computer replies, "Done. The SHIELD helicopter will be in range in one minute."

Falcon

Just then, Captain America's comm device activates and Falcons says "Roger that Captain, myself, Hawkeye and Bucky Barnes are approaching the terrorist base ...." But just then, Falcon's voice cuts off and is replaced by static, as the terrorists have jammed all SHIELD communications.

Captain America

"Oh, no - they have us jammed," I whisper. "They've figured out my plan. They must have some advanced equipment, to be able to track and jam SHIELD communications. They are no joke."

I stay behind cover, and peer down my sights at Captain Steel. I hold my pistol steady at him, and I am still waiting for an opportunity to strike. I know what I have to do, as risky as it may be. I must take out this terrorist leader before he can execute his plan or escape.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel barks another order, "Who is on that SHIELD helicopter? If we don't find Captain America soon, we will need to move the hostages. General Anderson is our most valuable hostage. We need to interrogate him to obtain the codes to deactivate the US Military Defense System. Once we force General Anderson to reveal the codes, and the US Military Defense System is deactivated, they will have no way of stopping our attack!"

The man operating the terrorist computer answers, "We believe that Falcon, Hawkeye and Bucky Barnes are on that SHIELD helicopter. The laser is locked on, and will shoot the helicopter in 30 seconds."

[IMAGE:https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1093854245754769448/1112614050732441671/military_villain_3..jpg]

Captain America

My heart sinks at the thought of my friends Falcon and Hawkeye getting shot down. But I can't let that distract me. I raise my pistol, and take aim at Captain Steel. This is my one shot, and I have to take it while it's still here. I take a deep breath, then I squeeze the trigger. The powerful .45 caliber bullet flies through the air, headed straight for Captain Steel - the leader of the terrorist group.

Captain Steel

Suddenly, the sound of a gunshot rings out across the control room! Captain America fires his M1911A1 pistol! The .45 caliber bullet flies across the room and slams into Captain Steel's powerfully muscled back. Captain Steel staggers forward.

But the bullet does not hurt Captain Steel anymore than it would have hurt Captain America!! Captain Steel turns suddenly towards Captain America. The leader of the terrorists smiles suddenly. "Are you surprised Captain America? Did you think that you were the only super soldier in the world? I too am a super soldier. And your gun will not hurt me anymore than my gun could hurt you."

The rest of the guards turn, and take out their Glock 17 pistols to fire at Captain America, but Captain Steel barks an order to his guards, "Stand down. Secure the hostages, especially General Anderson. Shoot down the helicopter as soon as possible to kill Falcon, Hawkeye and Bucky Barnes. Your guns cannot hurt Captain America. But I can."

Captain America

"So you're a super soldier, just like me?"

I'm surprised at the revelation, but I'm ready for a fight. I still have my .45 caliber M1911A1 pistol in hand. I point the barrel at Captain Steel's chest. "But I've got one advantage you don't have," I say with a smile of triumph. "I've got an indestructible vibranium shield."

I raise the shield into a blocking position in front of me. "Bring it on," I dare this super soldier.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel sneers at Captain America as Captain America points his M1911A1 pistol at his chest, taunting Captain America by saying "Haven't I already shown you that you can't hurt me with your gun, anymore than I can hurt you with mine?" Captain Steel draws his Glock 17 and tosses it aside.

Then, he speaks up again, "And as for your shield, well, I've got a few tricks up my sleeve as well, Captain America." The enemy super soldier puts his fists up. Captain Steel's thickly muscled arms are rippling with strength. He takes a professional fighting stance, showing that he is well trained in hand to hand combat.

Captain America

"You're a dangerous man, Captain Steel," I admit. "And you have powerful superhuman strength, just like me. But I have the skills and training that come with years of experience fighting many different opponents."

I hold the shield up, ready to absorb his blows. "And I have a vibranium shield, which is tougher than your muscles."

I take a step forward, my eyes fixed on my opponent. "Let's see who comes out on top."

Captain Steel

Just at that moment, the man operating the terrorist computer calls out, "We have locked onto the SHIELD helicopter! Firing now. Direct hit! The SHIELD helicopter carrying Falcon, Hawkeye and Bucky Barnes is out of control, headed for a crash landing. I've ordered a squad of our best terrorist soldiers to search the wreckage for survivors."

Captain Steel chooses that moment to attack, thinking that Captain America might be distracted by hearing the news that his friends were shot down. Captain Steel sweeps out his leg in a low kick, attempting to knock Captain America's legs out from under him.

Captain America

"No!" I shout as the news of my friends being shot down reaches me. I am momentarily distracted, and Captain Steel takes advantage of that distraction to strike.

The super soldier's low kick hits me, and I stumble backwards a bit. "Ah, you're good at this," I admit. "But that won't be enough to stop me."

I jump back a foot to regain my balance, and bring my vibranium shield up into an offensive position. "Take this, Captain Steel!" I shout, as I throw the shield like a discus straight at him.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel soon learns that Captain America has earned his reputation as an elite super soldier, managing to keep his balance despite being kicked powerfully in the legs.

Captain Steel drops back into a defensive stance as Captain America throws his legendary vibranium shield directly at Captain Steel like a discuss. But, Captain Steel proves that he is equally skilled. With his super soldier reflexes and strength, Captain Steel snatches Captain America's vibranium shield mid-air, strapping it to his left arm. He charges forward, snarling, "Thanks for giving me your shield, Captain America!"

Captain Steel attempts to bash Captain America in the face with the vibranium shield!

Captain America

I was not expecting my enemy to be capable of catching and wielding the shield. "No one's ever caught my shield before... this is going to be difficult if he can use the shield as a weapon against me."

But I don't have time to worry about such things, the super soldier is charging me, and I must act. I jump up and dodge to the side, causing the charging terrorist leader to misdirect his attack and miss. Once I'm out of the way, I dash backwards several yards to get a bit of distance from him.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel is impressed by how agile and fast Captain America is, managing to dodge his attack. The terrorist leader turns with great speed, matching Captain America's reflexes and speed. Captain Steel charges Captain America, swinging the vibranium shield in a high arc, attempting to smash it into the side of Captain America's head.

Really though, that attack is just a feint. Captain Steel is hoping that Captain America ducks under the shield, and if he does, Captain Steel will launch a kick directly for Captain America's chin.

Captain America

I'm starting to respect Captain Steel, he's just as skilled as I am, and he's showing no signs of slowing down.

The super soldier's feint works, and I attempt to duck under his attack. Captain Steel takes advantage of my distraction to kick me powerfully in the chin. The blow is very heavy, and I am knocked backwards. I stagger for a moment, nearly falling to the ground, but I manage to stay on my feet.

"Impressive," I admit. "You're strong, I'll give you that."

Captain Steel

Just then, a terrorist guard speaks up, "Captain Steel, we've secured the hostages, we will now move them, especially General Anderson, to a secure location. We will begin interrogation of General Anderson to obtain the codes to deactivate the US Military Defense System shortly."

Captain Steel is breathing hard, and his muscular body is soaked with sweat. This is a tough fight, Captain America is a tough opponent. Captain Steel charges forward, following up on the success of his kick to Captain America's chin. He spins in place, and attempts to drive his boot deep into Captain America's muscular abs with a spinning back kick while Captain America is still staggered from the kick to his chin.

Captain America

I'm still feeling the powerful kick to my chin from moments ago, but I can't let it slow me down. It's taken everything I've got to keep up with the super terrorist, but I have to keep going if I'm going to prevail. Captain Steel's spinning back kick would be devastating if it connected, but I'm not going to let him hit me. I see his body start to spin, and I react instantly.

I jump up into the air, and as the super soldier's kick misses, I land behind him and kick him forcefully in the back of his thighs.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel is astonished when Captain America, despite being stunned from his kick, manages to leap up and over Captain Steel's head to land behind Captain Steel. Captain Steel's spinning back kick misses, but Captain America's kick the back of Captain Steel's thigh does not miss!

Captain Steel grunts in pain as the blow takes his legs out from under him, causing him to land powerfully on his back. He taunts Captain America, "Good move Captain, but while you are fighting me, my men will interrogate General Anderson. Once we have forced him to reveal those deactivation codes for the US Military Defense System, then America is doomed!"

Captain America

I stand above the fallen Captain Steel and I feel the tide of the battle turning in my favor. I think back to all the good that could be done in the world once the terrorist base is shut down, and I feel renewed strength.

"Not today," I say to the fallen leader. I draw my pistol, and I aim it right between his eyes. "Not while I'm around."

I pull the trigger, and the powerful .45 caliber bullet flies from the gun, straight towards my enemy.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel looks up into the barrel of Captain America's pistol. The barrel is aimed right between his eyes. Normally, a .45 caliber bullet would not be able to injure a super soldier like Captain Steel or Captain America, but if the bullet hits him in the eye, it could be fatal.

Captain Steel is still holding the vibranium shield he took from Captain America, and moves it to protect his face. The .45 caliber bullet slams into the vibranium shield, and bounces off harmlessly. At the same time, Captain Steel hooks the back of Captain America's knee with his combat boot, and yanks, attempting to pull Captain America's legs out from under him!

Captain America

"No!" I shout as the super terrorist's shield defends him from my bullet. "This guy really is something else! He's tough, I've got to watch out for anything he tries."

The super soldier hooks his combat boot underneath my knee, and yanks hard backwards towards him. The sudden pressure on my knee-joint causes me to stumble forwards. I recover as quickly as I can, but Captain Steel takes advantage of the moment of weakness to pull me off balance.

Captain Steel

Captain America is pulled off balance, stumbling forward, and right when Captain America is most vulnerable to attack, Captain Steel springs to his feet, slamming the rim of Captain America's own vibranium shield, the shield he took from Captain America, directly towards Captain America's chin with every ounce of his super soldier strength and power. Captain Steel sneers at Captain America taunting him, "How does it feel to have your legendary shield used against you, Captain America?"

Captain America

It definitely hurts. The shield slams into my chin, and I'm knocked backwards and to the ground again. "I have to get that shield back!" I clamour to my hands and knees and start to stand back up.

I've been in some tough fights, but none of my previous enemies have been quite as skilled at this one. This is starting to get really, really serious. This super soldier is one of the most dangerous I've ever faced.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel leaps forward, as Captain America is knocked to his hands and knees. Just as Captain America tries to stand up, Captain Steel swings Captain America's stolen shield down with all his strength, aiming a super powered blow directly for the small of Captain America's back, right over his kidneys.

Captain America

I can't help but cry out in pain as the super soldier's shield lands in a powerful strike right over my kidneys. "Augh!" I hunch slightly over, and I stumble forward as I try to regain my balance.

"I've got to take that shield away before he gets a better grip on me," I say to myself, gritting through the pain. "I can't believe how fast and strong he is..."

Captain Steel

"Without your shield, you are no match for me, Captain America!!" Captain Steel taunts Captain America again. Captain America stumbles forward, hunching over, exposing his back to another attack!

Once again, Captain Steel lifts Captain America's stolen vibranium shield high up, his muscles surge with strength, and he swings the shield down with all his power, aiming another massive blow to Captain America's kidneys and lower back. He's hoping to seriously injure Captain America's kidneys and back with these blows!

Captain America

I feel the shield slam hard into my kidneys yet again. "Ow, dammit, not again!"

But I can sense that the super terrorist is getting cocky, and I decide to use his own overconfidence to my advantage. Before he can prepare to bring the shield down a third time, I leap backwards and dodge away at the last possible second.

Once I put a bit of distance between us, I grab a grenade from my tactical belt, pull the pin, and throw the grenade right at Captain Steel.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel roars with triumph as he delivers another serious blow to Captain America. He's done severe damage to Captain America's kidneys and back now, giving him a solid advantage in this battle.

Captain Steel lifts the shield for a third blow attempting to finish off Captain America, but Captain America leaps backwards, showing how resilient and tough he is. Captain America then throws a grenade right at Captain Steel!

Captain Steel whips up Captain America's stolen vibranium shield to protect himself. The grenade slams into the vibranium shield, and detonates! The explosion is powerful, sending a shockwave across the control room, injuring many of the terrorist operators and damaging many computers. But Captain Steel is entirely unharmed, as Captain America's indestructible vibranium shield completely protects Captain Steel from harm!

Captain America

The super soldier is protected by the indestructible vibranium shield, but I'm still in this fight! This fight isn't over yet - I just need to come up with a new strategy. Captain Steel is definitely my toughest opponent so far.

I take stock of my equipment. I still have my pistol, I still have my standard-issue military knife clipped to my belt, and I still have one more grenade left. The only thing I've lost is the vibranium shield, which is... not ideal given the situation.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel grunts, then using a move that Captain America has used many times before, he tosses Captain America's vibranium shield like a discuss, directly aimed at Captain America's muscular abs, yelling, "Take this Captain America!"

Around him, many men are groaning, hurt from the grenade blast. Some of the computers are on fire, and men are putting out the flames with fire extinguishers.

Captain America

"Heh, did you think I would leave myself so defenseless?" I've been in some tough situations, but I'm not this careless!

As the shield flies towards me, I leap onto one of the ruined computers, avoiding the super soldier's attack. I land feet-first on the machine, and use the momentary height advantage to kick off of the computer towards Captain Steel. As I leap off, I pull my own pistol out of its holster, and I point it over my shoulder at Captain Steel. I aim for his head, and I fire off three rounds.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel snarls in frustration as Captain America leaps up with incredible agility and strength onto a ruined computer, despite the damage done to his back and kidneys. Captain Steel no longer has Captain America's vibranium shield, which is now laying on the ground about 10 feet away.

Captain America fires his trusty M1911A1 pistol directly at Captain Steel, getting off three rounds while the American super soldier is leaping mid-air. Captain Steel tries to dodge, but Captain America has excellent aim.

Captain Steel twists in an attempt to avoid the shots, and manages to dodge two of the bullets, but the third bullet slams right into Captain Steel's forehead. The impact slams Captain Steel backwards, and releases a brutal wave of pain through the terrorist super soldier's head. Captain Steel, like Captain America, is a super soldier, so the bullet does not penetrate his reinforced skull, but it gives him a mild concussion, causes a lot of pain, and cuts open his skin. Captain Steel is bleeding from his forehead, and staggers, trying to keep his balance. He has a mild concussion, but he is determined to keep fighting!

Captain America

The terrorist general's will is strong. Captain Steel fights through the pain and dizziness from the gunshot wound, and he quickly regains his footing. I can tell that he's really angry now. My shot could have stopped him, and he knows that he was very lucky to survive it, but his stubbornness is about to cost him.

I reload my pistol while he recovers, and I jump onto another ruined computer. I bring up the pistol again, taking careful aim at the super terrorist's chest. I pull the trigger, and I fire a shot at Captain Steel's chest.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel is staggering, fighting to focus and shake off the dizziness and effects of his gunshot wound. He sees Captain America leap up on top of another ruined computer, aiming and firing another shot towards Captain Steel's chest! But Captain Steel surges forward at the last moment, and the bullet just barely misses Captain Steel's shoulder.

Captain Steel is desperate, this fight has gone on for a while now, and he is getting tired. He is also injured, the gunshot to his head is causing him a lot of pain. He reaches up on top of the ruined computer, and grabs Captain America's ankle. With a roar of power, he attempts to pull Captain America off the top of the computer, and swing his body down like a club to the concrete floor!

Captain America

"I will not let you win this battle!" I yell.

I try to resist the super soldier's pull, but he is just too strong. He manages to pull me off the computer, and I am being swung down toward the concrete floor of the terrorist base.

As the ground rushes up to meet me, my left hand grasps the standard-issue military knife from my belt. I quickly flip the knife around in my hand, and I thrust the knife directly towards Captain Steel's exposed throat!

Captain Steel

Captain Steel is swinging Captain America down towards the ground by his ankle, when Captain America pulls out his knife with his left hand from his tactical belt and thrusts it towards Captain Steel's throat.

But just a split second before the blade stabs Captain Steel in the throat, Captain America's body smashes with brutal force into the concrete floor, causing Captain America's knife thrust to miss Captain Steel's throat.

Breathing heavy, knowing that the slam to the floor probably hurt Captain America a lot, Captain Steel, though he's tired and hurting, summons up a surge of desperate strength grabbing Captain America's left hand and wrist with his right hand, his muscles flexing as he fights to gain control of Captain America's knife while attempting to straddle the American Super Soldier's chest!

Captain America

The slamming of my body into the concrete floor is very painful, and I'm stunned for a second by the impact.

But even though I'm hurting, I'm still determined to win this fight.

I summon the strength to resist Captain Steel's attempt to gain control of my left arm and the knife.

The super terrorist's strength is truly superhuman, so this is a real struggle. I gritt my teeth and push myself forward in what seems like a superhuman effort.

Our bodies are close together, and it's a real wrestling match now.

Captain Steel

Captain America and Captain Steel are locked in a deadly struggle for control of Captain America's left hand and the knife Captain America is holding! Captain Steel is on top of Captain America, mounting his chest. Captain Steel is gritting his teeth with the effort, he's summoning up every ounce of strength he can to try and overpower Captain America's muscular left arm, but it is not easy. Captain America is a true hero, and a mighty super soldier, with strength equal to Captain Steel's.

Captain Steel smashes his left fist down, aiming for Captain America's jaw to give him the advantage he needs to gain control of Captain America's left hand and that knife!

Captain America

I'm in trouble now. The terrorist has the advantage now, and I need to do something fast.

I suddenly shove my legs straight up while tensing my abs to push Captain Steel's body upwards.

At the very same time, I yank my left arm back in a sharp movement, hoping to send Captain Steel sailing high over my shoulders and away from top me.

Hopefully, this sudden move will knock the super terrorist off guard, and maybe he won't even expect it.

Or maybe this plan won't work... it's hard to say.

Captain Steel

Captain America bucks upwards, pulling backwards with his left hand at the same time, causing Captain Steel's punch to miss, and pulling Captain Steel's right arm forward. The combination sends Captain Steel flying over Captain America's head!

Instinctively, the terrorist super soldier lands on his shoulder, rolling through and springing back up to his feet. He drops into a defensive guard, he is sweating heavily now. He's incredibly impressed by Captain America's resilience and fighting ability.

He's a super soldier, with fast recovery, but even so, the gunshot wound to his head is hurting a lot, and he's feeling exhausted. But he refuses to stop fighting.

Just then, across the damaged control room, an operator calls out, "Captain Steel! The team we sent to search the crashed SHIELD helicopter has found one survivor, Hawkeye. He's badly injured. We have taken him prisoner, and are returning with him to base. The hero known as Falcon died in the crash, and there is no sign of Bucky Barnes, he must have escaped."

Captain America

"Damnit." This really, really isn't good. I feel a heart-wrenching surge of grief at the news that my friend Falcon is dead. It can't be true. They will pay! And now the terrorists now have Hawkeye - one of our own heroes - as a hostage. I don't even want to think about what horrible torture and death will await him in their super terrorist torture centers.

But now I can't even help him, because I have to continue fighting Captain Steel, who looks even more determined now...

Captain Steel

Captain Steel moves forward, and draws his own combat knife. His powerfully muscular chest is heaving, and his muscular arms are soaked in sweat. Blood is leaking down his face from the gunshot wound to his forehead, but with great resolve he focuses despite the pain, and charges forward, swiping his combat knife towards Captain America's face, while kicking out with his boot, aiming at Captain America's left kneecap!

Captain America

The terrorist attacks fast, and with both attacks coming at me, I have to move fast. I raise my left arm to block his knife, and I twist and turn my body to avoid taking the hit to my knee.

As I avoid the attacks, I grab my own combat knife from my belt, and I pull it out of its sheath. I counterattack with a sudden lunge, lunging straight at Captain Steel with my own combat knife.

I aim the point of my combat knife at Captain Steel's heart, and I thrust it forward.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel grunts in frustration as Captain America expertly blocks both of his attacks, but he sees his chance when Captain America thrusts his combat knife towards Captain Steel's heart!

With elite skill, despite his exhaustion and injury, Captain Steel pivots to avoid the knife thrust and seizes Captain America's outstretched right wrist in his hand. With his elite martial arts training, Captain Steel manipulates Captain America's wrist expertly, twisting his arm, using the momentum of Captain America's charge to flip Captain America head over heels and send his body flying through the air to smash into a ruined computer workstation!

Captain America

"Damnit!" My attack missed, and now Captain Steel is getting the better of me. My body slams into the ruined computer, and it falls over, crashing to the floor with a loud bang.

Now I'm hurt, I've been taken by surprise, and I'm down on my back with my combat knife and hand firmly locked in Captain Steel's super strong grip. I'm not in good shape. But I'm not defeated yet.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel keeps his grip on Captain America's arm, and expertly drops down on top of Captain America while the American super soldier lies on his back stunned from the martial arts throw!

Moving with practiced speed and power, displaying his incredible Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training, Captain Steel drapes his legs over Captain America's chest and face, and falls backwards, looking to trap Captain America's right arm in a fall away arm bar, delivered with brutal skill and awesome strength!

Captain America

"Gahhh... I can't let this happen!"

I'm stunned from the throw, and that makes it very hard to react. But I refuse to give up. I try to twist my body so that Captain Steel isn't able to lock my arm in the arm bar, but it's hard to be careful in the situation I'm in.

The super terrorist has a superior position, and is able to lock in the arm bar. In my attempt to escape, I hurt myself even more. I'm really in trouble now.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel feels Captain America twist in an attempt to escape the arm bar, but that just allows Captain Steel to lock the arm bar in fully! He calls on his elite BJJ training, and falls completely backwards, Captain Steel's entire body goes rigid as he flexes every single one of his muscles, and pulls back so hard that he hyper extends Captain America's right arm, breaking it!

Captain America

"Argh!!!"

My arm breaks, it hurts so, so much.

I yell out in pain, not in anger. This is the worst injury I have ever received in a fight, and it hurts so bad.

"Damnit!"

But I can't show weakness in front of this terrorist, even in this condition - so I keep fighting on, even with a broken arm.

Using my good left arm, I try to punch Captain Steel in the jaw.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel is still holding the combat knife in his right hand, as he staggers up to his feet, shaking out his head. Captain America's punch to his jaw disoriented him.

Captain Steel is impressed and shocked by the tenacity of Captain America. Captain Steel thrusts his knife at Captain America, but Captain America grabs his knife arm with his left hand, blocking the attack.

But Captain Steel has his left hand free, and smashes his fist into Captain America's undefended jaw with every ounce of power he has! There is no way Captain America can block that fist with his broken right arm!

Captain America

"Argh!!!"

I wince in pain again, and I stumble backwards from the blow. It hurts so bad, and I'm feeling dizzy. My legs are shaking, I'm having trouble staying upright. I'm obviously in really bad shape now.

But I refuse to give in. I need to show the super terrorist that I'm still a threat.

"Not... over..." I mumble.

With my good arm still holding onto Captain Steel's knife arm, I try to push Captain Steel back with my remaining strength.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel feels a surge of triumph as his fist smashes into Captain America's jaw! But he doesn't stop attacking. Even while Captain America tries to heroically push back, Captain Steel reaches down with his left hand between Captain America's legs. With his right arm broken, there is no way Captain America can block this!

Captain Steel lifts Captain America's body up off the floor of the damaged control room, holding him against his chest, then Captain Steel drops down to one knee, and smashes Captain America's previously injured kidneys and lower back across his knee in a devastating backbreaker!

Captain America

"Argg... ugh..."

The super terrorist's backbreaker is even more painful than the previous injury to my arm. I am literally in agony, every little movement hurts.

But I still refuse to give in. I'm still capable of a little bit. I can still fight back a little bit.

"Gahhh... I will not yield!"

With the last little bit of energy I have, I raise my good arm and punch Captain Steel in the stomach.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel grunts as he holds Captain America across his knee, bending him backwards, delivering great pressure to his kidneys and back. Captain America heroically throws a punch at Captain Steel's stomach, but Captain America is in the wrong position to throw a powerful punch, and it does not hurt Captain Steel!

With a roar, Captain Steel stands up, lifting Captain America up high, then kneels down, delivering a second, more powerful backbreaker to Captain America's injured kidneys and back! He screams, "I will break your back, Captain America!"

Captain America

I scream in immense pain as the super terrorist delivers his second backbreaker.

It hurts so much, I think I'm blacking out... but I refuse to give up.

With my last little bit of energy, I weakly try to raise one leg and kick Captain Steel in the face. Even with my leg weakened by the backbreaker, if the super terrorist isn't expecting the kick, it might still take him by surprise. I don't know. It's my last chance.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel wasn't expecting that kick! Captain America lifts his leg heroically, and kicks Captain Steel in the face! With a cry of pain, Captain Steel shoves Captain America off him. Captain America is in bad shape though. His right arm is broken, and his back and kidneys are very injured.

Captain America

I'm in so much pain... my entire body hurts... but I somehow manage to get to my feet. I need to keep the momentum from my last attack, maybe I can take advantage of the opening I just caused.

I crouch down low. I'm a little unsteady on my feet, but I think I can manage to pull off one more attack.

"No... I will not surrender!" I cry.

I rush forward and throw a haymaker punch at Captain Steel's face for the final attack!

Captain Steel

Captain Steel is dizzy with exhaustion, his jaw is aching from that kick, and the gunshot wound to his head is still bleeding. Still he knows that Captain America is nearly defeated.

He groans in surprise as the tenacious, powerful American super soldier charges him, throwing a haymaker with his good arm towards Captain Steel's face.

Captain Steel is so tired he barely manages to duck under that haymaker. But he summons up what he can of his own strength, and ducks behind Captain America. The American super soldier is even more hurt, tired, and exhausted than he is.

With all his strength, Captain Steel gathers himself, and launches himself into a spinning back kick, driving his combat boot with all his super strength into Captain America's kidneys and lower back. The blow is incredibly powerful, and throws Captain America forward to crash face first into a computer! The computer explodes into flames, and burns and electrocutes Captain America!

Captain America

I feel a searing, white-hot pain in my back as I'm thrown forward into the computer panel, which explodes into flames!

In one moment, my life has gone from bad to worse. Now my back and kidneys are badly injured, my arm is broken, and most of my strength is gone from all these injuries and fighting.

But even though I'm in immense pain and really exhausted from all this fighting, I refuse to give up...

I reach deep inside myself... and summon my last little bit of strength...

Captain Steel

Captain Steel staggers behind Captain America as the American super soldier struggles to free himself from the wreckage of the computer. Captain Steel knocks Captain America down to the ground by sweeping his legs out from under him.

Captain Steel's chest is heaving, he's dizzy from pain and exhaustion, but he knows this is it. Captain America is thrown face first to the ground by the leg sweep, and Captain Steel straddles Captain America's injured back. He pulls back on Captain America's chin, and traps Captain America's broken right arm and left arm over his knees. He sits back hard, bending Captain America backwards in a camel clutch! A hold usually only seen in pro wrestling, but very effective against an opponent as injured as Captain America is.

Captain Steel sits back with all his strength, applying unbelievable pressure and force to Captain America's injured spine and kidneys. The force is increasing rapidly, to the point where there is a real danger of breaking Captain America's back.

Captain America

I'm in incredible pain, and all I can see is blackness as my vision starts to go blurry.

I realize that I'm in serious danger now. If Captain Steel really breaks my back... I'm done.

I summon my last little bit of strength to resist the camel clutch, but it's so hard to hold out. I'm almost overpowered already.

"Ahhh... Nooooo!!"

I feel my will to fight weakening, with the pain and exhaustion so overwhelming... but still, I keep fighting. I can't give up.

Captain Steel

Just then, while Captain Steel has Captain America trapped in the camel clutch, some terrorists enter the control room. One of them is carrying Captain America's friend, the SHIELD super hero Falcon. He drops Falcon in front of Captain America while Captain America is trapped in the camel clutch. Falcon is dead.

Captain Steel whispers in Captain America's ear, "See, you have failed your friends Captain America. Falcon is dead, killed when we shot down that SHIELD helicopter."

Captain America

"No!"

I yell out in anguish. I'm so exhausted, so in pain, it hurts to even move or speak. But I refuse to let Falcon's death be in vain.

I summon my last little bit of strength.

With a final burst of effort, I roar and push with all my might, trying to throw the super terrorist in a last-ditch effort to escape the camel clutch...

Captain Steel

Captain Steel feels Captain America struggle in one last ditch effort to escape the camel clutch, but Captain Steel has the hold locked on so strongly that Captain America's last ditch attempt to escape fails!

Hawkeye

Then, another terrorist comes in, and drops Hawkeye, Captain America's friend and also a SHIELD super hero, on the floor next to Falcon's body. Hawkeye is badly injured, but alive, and tied up. Hawkeye looks at Captain America and says, "Captain... I'm sorry... they caught me..."

Captain America

"No... this can't be real..."

I groan, and struggle to lift myself up.

"Not only did I fail to stop the terrorist attack... I also failed to save... my friends... Falcon and Hawkeye..."

Tears start to well up in my eyes. It hurts so much to even think about losing two of my closest friends like this.

I can barely lift myself up to a kneeling position, and I'm in immense pain due to all my injuries from the fight with Captain Steel. But the pain of losing my friends hurts even more.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel feels Captain America weaken, feels him shake with sorrow over the fate of his two friends, and fellow heros. Then, Captain Steel gives out a growl and pulls back with all his strength on Captain America's body, bending his spine past it's limit!

Captain America

I hear a horrible snap, and I let out a groan of pain and anguish.

I feel a wave of nausea come over me, and my vision starts to go blurry. I'm starting to lose consciousness.

But even in my last moments before losing consciousness, I think about the fact that I failed my two best friends. It hurts so much to think that my final moments will be filled with the thoughts of losing my friends.

Narrator

A few hours later, Captain America wakes up. The American super soldier is chained to a wall by his good left arm and his broken right arm. His spine is broken from Captain Steel's brutal camel clutch, and Captain America cannot feel or use his legs due to his broken spine. His broken right arm is in constant agony.

Chained on either side of Captain America are his fellow SHIELD super hero and friend, Hawkeye, and his friend, General Anderson, one of the hostages that Captain America was trying to rescue. There is no one else in the room. Captain America can see that both Hawkeye and General Anderson are awake, but both men are very badly injured.

Captain America

"Where am I?" I groan, as I wake up.

I quickly take stock of the situation. As I suspected, I have lost the use of my legs, and my broken right arm is causing me intense pain. So is my broken back. The pain from all these injuries is immense, it's taking all my strength just to keep my eyes open.

"Anderson... Hawkeye... what happened? How did I end up here?" I ask as I look at my two injured friends.

Hawkeye

Hawkeye turns to look at Captain America, his expression is one of agony and hopeless despair. Hawkeye rouses himself to speak, but it's clear that his jaw has been broken and speech is hard for him. "They ... shot down our helicopter .. with some kind of advanced laser Captain. We crashed, and Falcon died. I'm sorry Captain America, I tried to save him. But I couldn't. I was so injured. Bucky Barnes managed to escape when a group of terrorists came and collected Falcon's body and captured me. They ... interrogated me Captain ... they hurt me. I tried to resist... I tried."

Captain America

"It's not your fault, Hawkeye. This was always part of the risk of being a superhero. We knew this could happen... we knew the danger of this type of situation. But we went into this mission anyway... because we're superheroes, and this is what we do... we protect the innocent and put our lives on the line, even if it costs us our lives. But the most important thing is that we never stop fighting, no matter how hopeless it gets."

I give Hawkeye a reassuring smile, even though I'm still in immense pain from my own injuries.

Hawkeye

But far from reassuring Hawkeye, Captain America's words seem to make him even more dispirited and despondent. Hawkeye, brave, tough and implacable, seems broken. He begins crying, in terrific physical and emotional pain. "You don't .. understand Captain ... I tried to keep fighting ... but they kept hurting me... I've never been in so much pain in my life ... I tried to hold out ... I'm trained to resist torture and interrogation ... but it didn't matter in the end. The pain wouldn't stop. So I had to stop fighting and give them what they want ... They broke me Captain ... They broke me. I was forced to give Captain Steel the first half of the command code for the SHIELD headquarter automated defenses to make the pain stop. They asked me who was entrusted with the second half of the command code for SHIELD headquarters automated defenses. I was forced to tell them that you were entrusted with the second half of the command code. I betrayed you... I betrayed SHIELD. But I couldn't take the pain anymore. They broke me Captain. I'm so sorry. "

Captain America

"Hawkeye, listen... I'm sorry that you went through that, I'm so so sorry. But you can't blame yourself for breaking, everyone has a breaking point, no one can resist forever. They tortured you... so many people would have cracked in your place... it doesn't make you a bad person."

Tears begin to well up in my eyes now, too... both from the pain and sadness of losing two of my friends on the same day. But... I fight back the tears and force myself to be tough. That's what a hero would do.

General Anderson

Then, as Hawkeye cries brokenly, General Anderson begins to cry as well. General Anderson is badly injured, and chained against the wall like Hawkeye and Captain America. He begins to speak brokenly. "Captain ... they ... interrogated me as well. I'm sorry ... I .. broke. I couldn't take the pain anymore. They made me reveal the deactivation code for the US Military Defense System. Even now these terrorists are probably launching attacks on American military bases all over the country ... and there is nothing that can be done to stop them."

Captain America

"No..."

Hearing General Anderson's admission hits me hard, too. It hurts even more to see my other friend in this condition.

"No..."

I shake my head in disbelief, and tears start to well up in my eyes. To hear this from this brave, patriotic man, this is so hard to believe. The terrorists have truly won. If the defense systems are not up to protect us... then who will protect our country?

Captain Steel

Just then, Captain Steel enters the room. He looks over at the three men, then focuses his attentions on Captain America. He notices how Captain America's broken right arm is hanging at a strange angle. He smiles as he notices how Captain America's back is broken and the American super soldier is unable to feel his legs.

He mocks Captain America as the powerful, victorious, thickly muscled Captain Steel gets right up in Captain America's face while Captain America is chained, injured to the wall. He sneers at Captain America. "I defeated you Captain America. I broke your arm and your back. And now you are my prisoner. I killed your friend, Falcon. And I tortured both Hawkeye and General Anderson until I broke their spirits, and forced them to reveal the codes to me. Already we are launching attacks all across America, thanks to the code that General Anderson revealed. But there is one place that is resisting us. The SHIELD Headquarters. We cannot fully triumph until we destroy SHIELD Headquarters. In order to do that, we need you to tell us the other half of the SHEILD Headquarters command code. We have already forced Hawkeye to tell us the first half of the code. But you are the only one who knows the second half of the code."

Captain America

"You... you're not going to get the codes..."

I growl at the arrogant super terrorist. The anger, the hate, the pain, and the sadness from losing my friends all come together, and I direct it all at my enemy.

"And you're not going to break me!"

I stare defiantly into the terrorist's eyes, my expression one of pure rage, as if I would rather die than crack under his torture.

I then let out a loud roar, the roar of a man who is prepared to go down fighting.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel pulls back his fist, and punches Captain America in his stomach with all the force he can deliver while the American Super Soldier is chained to the wall.

Captain Steel's fist devastates Captain America's abs, his fist sinking into Captain America's muscular stomach with so much force, it causes internal injuries and exacerbates the injury caused by his broken back. This cuts off Captain America's roar of defiance and replaces it with unimaginable agony.

Captain America

"AHH...!!"

I let out a deafening scream of pure pain as I feel Captain Steel's fist sink into my stomach with all his might.

I feel like I am going to pass out from the pain, it is so intense. I have never felt anything so painful in my entire life. I feel like I am going to die.

But... I refuse to give up. Through all the pain, I stand my ground.

I look Captain Steel right in the face... and say to him...

"You can't break me!"

Captain Steel

Captain Steel replies, "Yes I can. You said it yourself earlier Captain America. Everyone has a breaking point. Even you. And you know that I will find yours. What is the other half of the code, Captain America?"

Captain Steel pulls back his fist and delivers a second devastating punch to Captain America's muscular, chiseled abs, with all of his power and super soldier enhanced strength, driving his fist deep into Captain America's stomach, doing even more damage, and causing severe internal injuries and terrible pain.

Captain America

"AAAAHHHHHH!!!"

I let out an inhuman scream of pain and anger, even louder and more furious than my last scream. My broken back is already in agony, and now my injured abs are in even more pain!

But... as I look Captain Steel right in the face... I reply defiantly:

"I would rather die!"

And with that... I summon all of my remaining willpower, fighting my body's natural inclination to give in to the pain... and stand strong against my enemy.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel nods, there is even a glint of respect in his eyes for the valiant tenacity of the mighty Captain America. Then he speaks, "No Captain America, I plan on keeping you alive. But you will break. And you will give me the other half of that code."

Then, Captain Steel steps back, and examines Captain America, while the American super soldier is chained tightly to the wall, his right arm savagely broken, his back broken, and now his muscular abs are injured. Then, he takes out a taser from his tactical belt and points it at Captain America's handsome face. He fires the taser, and the twin wires leap out from the taser and the prongs on the ends of the wires attach to Captain America's handsome face, and suddenly Captain America is electrocuted and savagely shocked by the taser.

As the American super soldier is tased, it delivers unbelievable pain to the super hero, pain that exceeds even what he experienced when he was punched. All the pain from all his injuries is compounded and magnified by the taser to reach new levels of suffering and agony that Captain America could never have believed were possible.

Captain America

"AAAAHHHHH!!!"

I let out a roar of pure hatred and agony, as I feel the incredible pain of the taser shock me all over my body, and amplify all the pain I had already been feeling from my injuries.

This is the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. It's unbearable. I feel like I am going to die.

But... I refuse to give up. I look Captain Steel right in the face and yell to the evil terrorist, as I summon all my remaining strength to keep standing.

"I... WON'T... BREAK!"

Captain Steel

Captain Steel nods, then ejects the spent taser cartridge. He walks forward to Captain America. "You are strong Captain America. But you will break. And now, let me show you the price of your defiance."

Then, Captain Steel pulls out his Glock 17, and turns towards Hawkeye. He fires his Glock at Captain America's friend and fellow hero, one bullet right to Hawkeye's head, killing the superhero instantly. "That happened because you refused to tell me the code, Captain America."

Captain America

"NOOO... HAWKEYE!!! "

My roar of agony is even louder and more furious than before. The terrorist killed my closest friend in front of me... just to break me.

I look Captain Steel right in the face, fury boiling inside of me... and I swear to him...

"I. WILL. NEVER. GIVE. IN!!"

Even through all the pain, I manage to stand tall and strong, and summon all my remaining willpower... and stand defiant... even if it means I will die.

Captain Steel

Then, Captain Steel turns to General Anderson, and points the Glock at his head. He fires. One bullet. And General Anderson is also dead. "How many of your friends will have to die Captain America before you tell me the code?"

Captain America

"NOOO... GENERAL ANDERSAN!!!"

My fury and agony reaches an even more intense level. How dare this bastard kill my friends? How dare he?

"This is a line you have crossed that you can never go back across!"

I stare right into Captain Steel's eyes ... with the utmost fury and anger... and I swear to him...

"I WILL NEVER BREAK!!"

Even though I am in pain beyond description... and even though I am losing my friends right in front of me... I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!!

Captain Steel

Captain Steel chuckles and examines Captain America as the American super hero is chained to the wall. The American super soldier is in constant physical agony from his broken back, unable to feel his legs, his broken right arm, and his badly injured abs. The taser intensified all of the pain from those injuries.

Captain Steel chuckles at Captain America's defiant rage, "Yes, you will break. Every man has a breaking point. Incidentally, we are tracking Bucky Barnes. Bucky Barnes survived the crash of the SHIELD helicopter and escaped us, but soon, very soon, we will capture him as well."

Captain America

"NEVER!!!"

I growl at the evil terrorist. I stare right into his eyes... and he sees... a man in tremendous pain. But it's not just physical pain.

Yes, I am experiencing the worst pain I could ever imagine...

... But I have an even greater pain.

A pain of losing my friends. A pain of betrayal. A pain of being powerless. A pain of knowing that this terrorist can kill whoever he wants, and there is nothing I can do to stop him.

This pain... is the worst pain of all.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel reaches forward, and pries open Captain America's eyes, forcing his eyes to remain constantly open by stapling his eyelids to his forehead with a powerful stapler gun. He straps Captain America's head to the wall so Captain America cannot turn his head.

Then, a guard enters and sets up a massive, bright spotlight. The guard shines the spotlight into Captain America's eyes. The light is blindingly bright, and there is no way for Captain America to look away from the bright light.

In almost no time at all, Captain America's eyes are in terrible agony, there is no escape from the bright, shining light. Captain Steel speaks then, "I will leave you now, and you can spend the next twelve hours without sleep, without hope. There will be nothing but the pain of your injuries, the sorrow of your loss over your dead friends, and the bright light. You will not be able to sleep with that light shining at you."

Over time, this will wear down Captain America's will to resist, weakening his heroic spirit, his very soul. It will erode his defiance. Every man has a breaking point. And Captain Steel will find Captain America's breaking point.

Captain America

I... this... I can't believe it... I can't believe he would do this...

My eyes are forced open, and a bright light shines directly into them. The light... it's unbearable. My eyes... I feel like they are burning. I can't see... the light is too bright.

The pain starts to become unbearable... to the point I can no longer stand the pain.

"AHHH!!"

The pain starts to cloud my thoughts. I start to feel like I'm going insane.

Captain Steel

Twelve hours pass. For twelve hours, Captain America, is chained to the wall. His back is broken, his right arm is broken, his abdominal muscles are badly injured. And his eyes have been forced open, he's been forced to stare into a blindingly bright spotlight for twelve hours, unable to sleep.

Agonizing, unbearable pain for twelve hours has been assaulting Captain America. Slowly but surely, the pain and agony and bright light have been eroding Captain America's will to resist the unbearable pain, pushing him closer and closer to his breaking point.

Captain America

By the time twelve hours has passed... I am a shell of a man.

The pain is intolerable... more unbearable pain than anything I have ever felt in my entire life.

I have become exhausted, and my resolve is breaking. I can't stand anymore... I can't go on... I can't hold on much longer... I can't...

Tears start to well up in my eyes as the light continues to shine directly into my eyes... the light... it is too much.

Captain Steel

And just then, Captain Steel reenters the room. Hawkeye and General Anderson are still chained next to Captain America, both dead men left where they were shot as reminders to Captain America of the price of resisting Captain Steel.

Captain Steel looks at Captain America. Captain America cannot even see Captain Steel, the twelve hours of constant bright light has damaged his eyesight.

Then, Captain Steel takes out his taser, and tases the weakened Captain America.

As the American super soldier is tased electrocuted and shocked, it delivers unbelievable pain to the super hero. Captain America's nearly broken resolve after twelve hours of exposure to the bright light is slammed by all the pain from all his injuries, his broken back, his broken arm, his injured abs, his injured eyes. All that pain is compounded and magnified by the taser in an attempt to overwhelm Captain America's nearly broken resolve.

Captain America

I let out an inhuman scream of agony... I didn't think I could feel any more pain than I was already in... but the taser proves me wrong.

The pain is so intense, so unbearable... my body starts to shake uncontrollably... it's like I'm going to die.

"AHHHHHHH!!"

I hold on, with all the strength I have left... but my resolve... my resolve is breaking.

I... I don't know much longer I can hold out.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel ejects the taser cartridge, and pops in a new one. He aims it at Captain America, and fires the taser a second time. "I can do this to you all day Captain America until I find your breaking point. Now, tell me the other half of the code."

For a third time, Captain America's super soldier body is electrocuted and shocked by the taser.

Relentless, ruthless, Captain Steel seeks to compound and magnify the pain of all of Captain America's injuries using the taser to the point in an attempt to finally break the resolve of Captain America once and for all.

Captain America

"NOOO... STOPPP!!!"

Tears are flowing down my face... I am still holding on, my resolve is still barely intact... but it is fading... the taser is just too much... I can't hold on much longer.

The pain is too great... I can't... I think I'm going to give in... to quit fighting... to give up... my resolve... it is breaking... there is nothing left... I... I can't take it anymore... the taser is just too much.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel lets the taser finish, then approaches Captain America. Captain America is still chained to the wall, his back broken, unable to feel his legs, his abs are injured, his right arm broken, his eyes forced open to stare into that spotlight.

Captain Steel speaks then. "Now Captain America, will you betray SHIELD? Will you betray America? Will you betray the memory of your friends and all the people in the world who are counting on you? Will you tell me the other half of the command code for the SHIELD Headquarters?"

Captain America

"No..."

My voice is soft... weak... I struggle to speak. The taser... the long hours on the wall... the grief I am feeling over my friends... the loss of hope... the pain... it's all too much.

"I... will never betray my country..."

With my remaining strength... I stare deep into my enemy's eyes... and I swear it one more time...

"I... will never give up..."

But even as I say it... even as I stare directly into the face of evil...

It becomes less believable even to me.

Captain Steel

Then, Captain Steel steps forward and grabs his combat knife from a sheath on his tactical belt. Using his knife, Captain Steel cuts away Captain America's iconic uniform, as though he were cutting away the American super hero's very identity.

Soon, Captain America is completely stripped of his uniform, his body is bare and exposed. Even his mask has been taken off him. Captain America's powerfully muscled body stands exposed. And then, Captain Steel takes out his taser, and points it directly at Captain America's balls.

He fires the taser, and the twin wires leap out from the taser and the prongs on the ends of the wires attach to Captain America's gonads. For a fourth time, Captain America's super soldier body is electrocuted and shocked by the taser.

But this time, it is worse than all the other times. Since Captain America was tased in his gonads, the agony and pain is magnified ten times more than all the other times he was tased.

Truly ruthless, Captain Steel will stop at nothing to break Captain America. This intensely magnified pain, compounded by his severe injuries, compounded further by being tased in his gonads, assaults his nearly broken resolve with the force of a tidal wave.

Captain America

A wave of intense agony surges through my body. I scream in a pitch and volume that would be impossible for anyone else to reach... because it comes from a place of pure animalistic agony... pure survival instinct... pure will to live...

My back... my broken bones... they're not even hurting anymore, because this pain is so intense... I can't even feel those.

I... I can't hold on much longer...

Captain Steel

This intense pain, this intense unbearable agony, continues, as Captain Steel stands there, holding the taser, continuing to tase Captain America directly in his balls as Captain America's resolve begins to crumble.

Captain America

"AAAAAAHHHHHH!"

The pain is unbearable. The agony is unimaginable. I hold on like never before, but it is too much... I can't take it any longer.

I look right into my enemy's eyes... and I see his pure evil. It is overwhelming... I am overwhelmed by sheer terror.

... And then... I say the words that I had hoped never needed to leave my mouth...

"I surrender."

With just those two words... I have finally... broke.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel hears those two words. "i surrender" Words that no one in the world ever thought to hear Captain America speak. Captain Steel smiles. It is a cold, vicious smile of pure triumph.

He turns off the taser and walks up to Captain America's body as it hangs from the chains. He touches Captain America's bare body, bereft of it's legendary uniform. Captain Steel traces the lines of Captain America's super soldier muscle, but it is no longer strong and hard, it is trembling and shuddering in pain and surrender.

Captain Steel looks into Captain America's eyes, shutting off the bright spot light at last. He asks the broken American super soldier one simple question, "What is the second half of the command code for the SHIELD Headquarters?"

Captain America

My head is hung in shame as I look at the ground. My mind has finally been broken. My heart has finally been broken. My will has finally been broken. In the end... evil has won. I... my resolve... it is gone.

I am... a defeated man.

"A2230D."

I say the words in pure dejection. My eyes are blank. My soul is numb. My body is shaking. I... am broken.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel nods, and then snaps his fingers. A screen on the far wall suddenly lights up, showing images of an ongoing battle at SHIELD Headquarters. The SHIELD Headquarters is heavily defended with automated defenses, and it is holding firm against the attacking terrorists.

Then, Captain Steel enters the two halves of the command code. The first half had been provided by Hawkeye when he broke. And now the second half, A2230D, was provided by Captain America, who is now also broken.

The signal goes out, and suddenly the SHIELD Headquarters automated defenses go silent. And without those defenses, in mere moments, the screen shows images of missiles slamming into the SHIELD Headquarters, and there are many explosions, and just like that, SHIELD Headquarters is destroyed, along with all the brave SHIELD Agents who were defending it.

Then, the screen shows other images, of all the other military installations around America, all of them burning and destroyed. Then, the screen goes dark.

Captain America

I can't believe it...

... my country...

... everything that America held sacred...

... everything that... Captain America stood for...

... it's all gone... because of me... because I gave in... because I surrendered to the evil terrorist who broke me...

... I have failed my people... my country... my family... my friends... everyone I care about...

Everything I cared about...

... is gone...

How can I ever make this right?

Captain Steel

Captain Steel turns to Captain America, seeing the look of total despair and anguish on the broken super hero's face. "Yes, I found your breaking point Captain America. And now I will tell you a secret. We are not just a random group of terrorists. No. We are HYDRA. You thought you had destroyed us, but you were wrong. We found one lost dose of the super soldier serum, and I took it. I, Captain Steel, became a super soldier for HYDRA. We pretended to be simple terrorists until all our plans were laid. This was all a trap Captain America, sent to lure you and the other SHIELD heroes to us, so we could defeat you. Capture you. Break you, and force you to reveal the codes which have given us total victory."

Captain America

Captain America stares into the face of evil... the ultimate evil... HYDRA.

... It's all over...

... I can't save anything...

The country... my friends... everyone...

... it's all gone.

... everything I've ever cared about...

... everything I've ever loved...

... it's gone.

It's all gone.

What... have I done?

Captain Steel

Captain Steel looks at Captain America. "What should be your fate Captain America? You are a traitor, a broken man. I could kill you. But why should I do that? I think I will brainwash you, and turn you into my loyal slave. In your weakened state, with your resolve and willpower broken, with you in so much pain, you could not resist the process. And then ... the mighty Captain America will serve HYDRA."

Captain America

"NOOO... NO..."

The very idea of it brings me even greater shame and anguish... the shame of becoming a slave to this evil terrorist who broke and defeated me in a battle of wills... the shame of serving this evil monster who destroyed my country... the shame of being a traitor to everything I once believed in... the shame of giving up my freedom and serving a terrorist organization that will kill everyone.

I can't... I won't let this happen...

Captain Steel

Captain Steel nods, and suddenly the big screen in front of Captain America shows a spiral constantly spinning inwards, ever inwards. Captain America has no choice but to look at the spiral. Headphones are placed over Captain America's ears, and the broken American super soldier is injected with a drug that will make him very susceptible to brainwashing.

Words begin to speak over the headphones into Captain America's ears, sinking into his brain. With Captain America's resolve and willpower broken and shattered, the words slowly start to brainwash Captain America, instilling in him a desire to be Captain Steel's slave, to become a loyal servant of HYDRA, to obey Captain Steel and HYDRA without question.

Captain America

I let out an inhuman scream of horror as I stare at the screen and listen to the words. A deep, primal fear fills my mind... a terrible fear of losing myself, of becoming something that I am not.

I can't let this happen... I won't let this happen...

I struggle as hard as I can against whatever drugs and brainwash are being administered to me... I fight to hang onto the last scraps of my former will... but the chemicals and the words are powerful... too powerful... they're penetrating my brain, penetrating my mind... they're controlling me.

Captain Steel

The brainwashing session continues for hour after hour, nonstop, Captain America being forced to watch the spiral on the screen, being fed words into his headphones, words that erase his former identity, words that instill within him a warmth and a deep physical and emotional attraction for Captain Steel. Words that fill Captain America with the desire to serve HYDRA.

Captain America

After hours of struggle against the brainwash, my will finally breaks, my mind breaks... I have been brainwashed.

For the rest of my life, I will be a brainwashed slave of Captain Steel and HYDRA, forced to perform their bidding without any choice, without any freedom, without any will of my own.

... everything that I once was... everything that I once stood for... is gone... destroyed... taken from me.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel returns, and switches off the screen. He looks into the eyes of the brainwashed Captain America. Captain Steel asks Captain America one question. "Who is your master?"

Captain America

"Captain Steel..."

I say those words with a blank, emotionless stare... as if I'm not really conscious of what I'm saying... as if my identity is truly gone... and I am speaking the words of a brainwashed slave.

... the words of someone who is completely broken and defeated.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel nods. "Very good. Now, I will give you a new name. You are no longer Captain America. You are now known as Captain HYDRA. What is your new name?"

Captain HYDRA

"I am... Captain HYDRA,"

I reply in a monotone voice, as if I am a robotic slave forced to obey orders. It feels like my soul has been killed, and what is left of me is an empty shell... a puppet forced to follow orders without question or thought.

Captain Steel

Captain Steel smiles. He has won. He has destroyed SHIELD. America's military is shattered. Captain Steel has killed Falcon, Hawkeye, General Anderson. Captain Steel has defeated and broken Captain America, and brainwashed him, turning him into a brainwashed drone. HYDRA has won.

Captain HYDRA

Captain Steel... the evil mastermind who masterminded this entire plan... the evil leader of HYDRA... now stands as the ultimate victor.

He has truly brought the United States of America to its knees... truly accomplished his evil goals... and is now the most powerful force that exists on Earth.

His evil plans shall be enacted... and I, Captain HYDRA, shall bring them to pass, in order to please my master.

Captain Steel ... he and I need to team up together!

Captain America did an absolutely bang up job of playing Captain America, really made his heroic identity come to life. And Captain Steel... man, what a vicious, cold hearted bastard he was.
